General Assembly

March 4 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Worker Justice Wisconsin will hold our most important meeting of the year: the General Assembly. This event combines our Annual Board Meeting and the monthly Worker Membership Meeting, marking another major step toward becoming a truly worker-led organization.

We will share updates on WJW’s successes and challenges throughout 2024, providing both the community and the workers who comprise its membership with a comprehensive view of the worker center as we go into 2025.

We will also engage in a collective discussion about wage theft and recommit to our campaign for its elimination in South-Central Wisconsin, vote on membership dues, and elect new board members from the worker membership. The top worker member candidates for the board are Lilia Garcia and Diana Mercedes Murcia, who came directly from collective workplace struggles for better working conditions.

Here’s the draft agenda for the meeting:

– Brief presentation of minutes from the previous meeting
– Wage Theft Campaign updates
– Topic of discussion: Why are Hispanic immigrants targeted for wage theft?
– 2024 Annual Report
– Voting in new Board Members
– Voting on key items, including membership dues

All worker members are invited to contribute to the agenda. Please submit proposed items to Socorro Cortez at socorro@workerjustice.org by February 21.
