Volunteers Needed

There are many opportunities to volunteer with the ICWJ. The day-to-day work of the ICWJ needs volunteers! A wide range of possibilities exists, ranging from helping in the office to speaking at public forums and in congregations on why dignity in the workplace is an important value, to answering phones and welcoming workers to our offices.  If you are interested in volunteering, please email us at volunteer@workerjustice.org.

Labor in the Pulpit

Each year, the Interfaith Coalition for Worker Justice runs its Labor in the Pulpits program. This program places trained speakers in area congregations to speak about the ties between faith and labor. We are pleased to train new volunteer speakers, and we are always interested in finding religious groups who want to host a Labor in the Pulpits speaker. Contact us for more information on training.

Financial Support

In order to cover the costs of operation, the ICWJ needs ongoing financial support from individuals and organizations. Funds are needed to produce materials, train volunteers, cover rent and utilities costs, and fund outreach and educational programs. Donations are tax-deductible. How to donate through Community Shares.

Presentations and Trainings

The ICWJ partners with the Workers Rights Center to hold periodic trainings to educate workers about their rights and responsibilities and to provide them with the tools to resolve problems on the job. The ICWJ also holds trainings for employers about their rights and responsibilities, and about the rights of their employees. The ICWJ is looking for people to help give presentations and trainings, sites for presentations, and people to help recruit and advertise for presentations.

Rapid Response Network

In certain cases, the ICWJ may need to mobilize a community response to support workers seeking justice on the job. Whether it is a letter or e-mail, a delegation or a rally, community attention focused on a workplace problem can be a powerful tool.

To volunteer for any of these positions, or to find out more information, please call the ICWJ office at 608-255-0376 or e-mail Director Rabbi Renee Bauer director@workerjustice.org
