Worker Justice

Thunder Bay Update (formerly Crushin’ It Apparel)

Following our September 12th press conference in front of Thunder Bay (formerly Crushin’ It Apparel), Worker Justice Wisconsin, IUPAT District 7, and the workers have continued to pressure owner Jeremy Kruk to do the right thing. To date, he has not bargained a contract with IUPAT. He has not paid his employees more than $8,000 owed in back wages. And he has not paid their lost earnings after illegally firing them for organizing. Our cases against Thunder Bay are moving forward. The National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) has passed the case along to enforcement, meanwhile IUPAT’s lawyers are considering pursuing double damages in court for unpaid wages. Meanwhile, his employees are working with our co-op organizer Frida Ballard to launch their own screen printing workers’ cooperative. Their goal is to build a just alternative to Thunder Bay!
