The Construction industry in Madison has employed immigrant, Latinx workers for years. This community has changed Madison’s skyline, building our schools, community centers, offices and homes. But immigrant, Latinx workers have also seen little to no economic prosperity and are routinely misclassified, affecting the way they can provide for their families.
In light of this reality, we invite you to join our State of Construction press conference on January 17th, 2024 at 6:30 p.m. We will also livestream it on our Facebook page. During the half-hour press conference, we will provide a report on how Immigrant, Latinx construction workers have been disenfranchised for the past several years in Madison. A group of workers will then share their experiences of wage theft, labor trafficking and of being misclassified. Together, we will call on industry influencers and giants to take action and begin dismantling the systemic plight affecting one of the largest parts of their workforce.
