A showing of At the River I Stand

Where: First Unitarian Society Gaebler Living Room, 900 University Bay Dr., Madison

When: Sunday, April 1, 2012 from 4:00-6:30pm

Join the Interfaith Coalition for Worker Justice and First Unitarian society for a showing of the film At the River I Stand. At the River I Stand is a documentary that recounts the 1968 Memphis sanitation workers’ strike and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s role in advocating for their rights. This struggle continues to inspire many today in the fight for social justice. This event will be the first of upcoming educational offerings from ICWJ so stay tuned!

The Role of Organized Labor in a Democracy: A University of Wisconsin Law School Forum

Where: UW Law School, Room 2260, 975 Bascom Mall, Madison

When: Wednesday, March 30th, 2011 from 6:00-8:00PM

ICWJ is proud to announce its cosponsorship of a UW Law School Forum: The Role of Organized Labor in a Democracy. Wednesday’s event will feature speakers from the UW Center on Wisconsin Strategies, Marquette University Law School, and ICWJ Board member Jonathan Rosenblum. Come learn more about the impact of Wisconsin’s budget bill and the role of collective bargaining in a democratic society.
